Creative Day April 2024.

Trigger warning – this post talks about suicide. If suicide is affecting you and you’d like some support call 01437 769982 to see how we can help.

Max Self’s Art Exhibition

A huge thank you to everyone who came to support our Creative Day. The day was arranged in memory of Max Self who tragically completed suicide on 9th April 2 years ago.

Max used his creativity to channel and express his emotions, which could at times feel extreme – he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in his teens.

Creativity was a major part of his life and so a day encouraging people to explore their creative selves was a fitting tribute to him. We know from our community that getting creative can be healing, distracting, fun and always purposeful, which is why we provide weekly craft sessions.

Creative Writing 10:30, Tuesdays at 2 Perrots Road, Haverfordwest, SA61 2HD

The day started with our new creative writing group who will be meeting on Tuesday mornings from 10:30am. The group are happy to welcome new members so if you fancy giving creative writing a go then this could be perfect for you.

At midday we were privileged to experience several of Max’s original artworks. His beautiful intricate pieces are filled with symbolism and peppered with words expressing his thoughts, feelings and experiences.

The last session of the day was jewellery making, thousands of pretty beads in so many shapes and styles contributed to a variety of gorgeous designs – we’ve been wearing ours every day since!

The day ended with a photo to mark the incredible fundraising efforts made by Nicky, Max’s mum who raised £6000 selling prints of Max’s work. WOW!
